Our Rights
Personal rights begin with the ability to defend oneself. The only restriction on gun ownership should be to keep convicted felons and the mentally disabled from owning firearms.
Christina is pro-gun and her position on gun laws is best described by quoting the language of the Second Amendment:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
Christina has been a lifelong defender of free speech against speech codes and political correctness in academia. She also believes that education is a state and local issue, and therefore wants to reduce Federal intrusions into the states' educational systems she is firmly against Federal programs like No Child Left Behind.
How many of our property rights have been lost to the environmentalists? The gift of a clean environment is our God-given legacy, but conservation is important most of all because people live here. Christina believes in a People First mentality when it comes to environmental policy. This means she is opposed to all carbon taxes and carbon footprints, and other misguided environmental policies which deprive the United States of industry and the working man of an honest day's labor. Like many of the working men and women of the 4th District, Christina is an avid sport shooter. She supports hunters, fishermen, and other outdoor sportsmen. Who better than outdoorsmen to understand the need for conservation?
Individual rights and liberties have been eroded by an over-active Federal government and over-active state governments. We need to take a stand every day to protect individual rights, and the best way to do that in Congress is to formulate laws that support individual constitutional rights, but also require personal responsibility for an individual's actions.
